The President of 36 Lions Football Club of Lagos, Gafar Liameed has ideally stated that football sustainability shouldn’t be a challenge for an urban state like Lagos.
The astute football administrator noted that football as a matter of fact should be like a religion in the state and noted that the ‘centre of excellence’ deserve to have at least two Nigeria Professional Football League sides.
The vast experienced and well traveled Football entrepreneur, who has had over twenty years in football investment , administration, scouting and coaching told top Nigeria Sports platforms, Family United by Football on Friday evening how he plans to develop football in Lagos when he becomes F.A Chairman.
” What really motivated me to contest for the Chairmanship position of the Lagos state Football Association last year was because I know I have all it takes to improve the overall football system in the state.
” When I founded 36-Lion Football Club about twenty years ago, my plans and dream was to make it a model to other clubs in Nigeria and indeed Africa, and today i can comfortably say we have been able to achieve that. He told FUBF
” Right now, we are investing in building a Football and Vocational School with two standard FIFA ‘C’ pitches and a mini pitch of 5 by 5 playing field on a 32,000 square meter. This feat is unprecedented in Nigeria.
” As a football administrator, investor, coach, scout, i have seen it all, and having served under the board of Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi for 8 years, I think I have garnered enough experience to do well. The member of Illinois Soccer State Association stated.
” I intend to develop grassroots football, because that is the bedrock and also regularise the numbers of board members to nine inline with the statues of the Nigeria Football Federation, as oppose the reduction to 7 by Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi.
” Moving forward, I hope to make Lagos state the best footballing city in Africa, we need to create more facilities, train our coaches with the latest form of technical methods and like i have always said, football sustainability shouldn’t be a challenge to an urban state like Lagos.
” Football should be like a religion and I don’t see any reason why Lagos state shouldn’t have at least two NPFL Clubs.” He concluded.
