Gabe Makes Cameo Appearance In Hawks Debut Win

Humphery Gabriel came off the bench to inspire Tainan Ghost Hawks to an emphatic 94-78 win in the Taiwan’s P-League on Tuesday, Sports247 reports .

The Nigerian who completed his move from TPBL’s Taiwan Beer Leopards on Friday 13th December was listed in the Squad and came on in the second Quarter with the Hawks still chasing the game.

Gabe in a space on just 3 minutes made his trade marks double blocks, multiple rebounds and was dominant in the offensive and defensive play for the Hawks but Pilots led 42-40 at half time.

The Hawks continued to chase the game with Gabe getting a few minutes in between and the team made a comeback in the 4th quarter with 36-16 points to turn the table and win the tie 94-78 making it 3-3 so far to maintain their 3rd Spot on the table. Pilot despite the defeat remains top.

Speaking in a post match conference, Gabe was delighted to finally hit the court after a long hiatus in the transfer squabbles.

” I am just happy to play again, it’s been a turbulent summer for me as l moved from Taiwan Beer to Taiwan Beer Leopards and for 6 weeks l hadn’t been able to play before my transfer now to Tainan Ghost Hawks so just getting a few minutes was great and hopefully l can ease myself into the team gradually ” He said

Coach Korner was more than impressed with his cameo performance explaining why Gabe needs to gradually be introduced into the team system of play.

“He was great, in less than 9 minutes, he made some great blocks, steals and helped in the offensive and defensive Rebounds, we needed to gradually introduce him into the system , it’s a shame l can only play him or Bayasgalan as only one of 2 foreign student spot can be I.

The court. We needed to stick more with the team as Gabe learn the team chemistry and surely with the run of games to come he would be needed more to help the team” he said

” My goal is to continue to develop and be a better player and l think the Hawks would propell me towards this so l am happy for the win and we push on from there” Gabe added

The Hawks will face off with Fubon Braves on 28th December.
