Vanung University records its first win of the season with a 79-54 victory over Fujen University on Wednesday.
Former Extra Joss Fighters of Cambodia small Forward was sensational as he inspired the Lions with 14 points 21 rebounds and 9 assists.
Coach Bansim Only gave the Nigerian 19 minutes in the 108-89 loss on Tuesday and the Nigerian returned with a bang with an all-round display at both ends.
Vanung showed their intent to bounce back from two back-to-back defeats as they tipped off like a train and opened a 20-4 lead in the opening 6 minutes of the first quarter. Coach Bamsim opted to rest his talisman and that gave Fujen the opportunity to bounce back to end the quarter 22-13.
The second quarter was closely fought by both sides with Vanung only 2 points advantage at the end to extend the half time lead to 38-27.
Gabe returned in the second half combining well with Jay West to frustrate the Fujen team and finished the 3rd Quarter 23-15.
Coach Bamsim couldn’t gamble anymore as he left his talisman on the court and the Nigerian continues to thrill the fans with his display and took the game beyond Fujen to win 79-54.
” We needed to bounce back, I wanted to win the opening two games but we knew we are faced with tough opponents so i understood the coach’s game plan and it worked for us in this match” Humphery Gabriel stated after the win.
” We will take it up from here now and see where we go forward” he added
Vanung will face another stiff opposition on Friday after resting out on Thursday. They will take on National Taiwan Normal University on Friday.
