G12 Football Club enjoyed the perfect start to their 2021 Fusion Football Championship campaign, beating Dominion Hotspur FC 2-0 on Sunday at the Legacy Pitch, Surulere.
G12 FC manager Isiekwene Christian was pleased with the performance of his side and stressed on the importance of winning the first game of the season. Speaking to Sports, he said:
“The first game is very crucial. I am very happy about winning the first game. It is one of the most important games. Starting with a win means a lot for us to start the campaign well and to give us confidence in the next matches.
“Before this game, I told my players that we would be taking the game as it comes. I can’t think about week three when I’m still having week two so we will be working according to the fixtures of the league.”
Christian praised the organization of the Fusion Football Championship competition, boldly comparing it to the NPFL.
“The league is a good encouragement for grassroots football. If you watch the NPFL, the organization of the NPFL is not more than this. Having this kind of platform in the grassroots is a good development for Nigerian football.” he concluded.
