FWC Secondary Schools Football Tournament: We want to set the pace in the FCT, Chairman LOC

The Chairman, Local Organizing Committee of the FWC Champions Secondary Schools Football Tournament, Mr Promise Umaeme has promised that the maiden of the competition will be used to set the pace in the FCT for others to follow.

He made this claim in his acceptance speech after he was inaugurated alongside 7 others as the Committee to pilot the maiden edition of the FWC Champions Secondary Schools Football Tournament in the seat of power.

While Mr Promise will serve as the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Timothy Aiyeku is also to serve as the Secretary of the 8-man Committee with other members including Mr Olayinka Oladunjuoye – Member; Mr. George Momoh – Member; Mrs. Odiri Akpan – Member and Representatives of FCT Senior Secondary School Board, FCT Senior Secondary School Board and Representative of FCT Football Association.

The LOC Chairman expressed delight for finding him and other members worthy to take up the responsibility as he stressed that he has got very experienced Committee members that will make the job very easy.

He, therefore, affirmed that the Committee will do its best to deliver a historic competition as well as set the pace for others to follow in the FCT.

His words “We are grateful for a finding of worthy to serve in this capacity. We will do everything possible to ensure that we deliver a qualitative competition in the FCT.

“Unfortunately for us, so much has not been done in the FCT as regards to football development at the grassroots with secondary school students.

“Thank God that we now have the opportunity to set the pace. I believe with the people I have around me, it is going to be very easy because every one of them is very experienced. I have my chairman (in the referee council) also in the committee, he has, if I’m not mistaken close to 30 years experience in football so I think his wealth of experience is going to do a lot for us.”

He added that “I want to beg the members of the press that this project is going to be very difficult for us without your support. The whole world will know that the FCT is not just a seat for politicians but a place where things can also happen. We appeal to you to always be there to support us to make sure that this project is a successful one.”
