The LOC for the maiden FWC Champions FCT Schools Football Tournament, Wednesday dismissed fears that it is coming to replace other existing competitions in the FCT.
Following questions raised at the Press Conference held at the Family Worship Centre, Counseling Room on what becomes the fate of existing competitions like the Shell, and Principal Cup, among others, Chairman LOC, Mr. Promise Uwaeme said the FWC Champions School Tourney will not obliterate what has been on ground but will come on a unique platform in a different style.
His words “What we are doing is not to replace whatever that has existed in the past, we have our own style, we have standard for everything and as a ministry, there are standards we cannot fall back to.
“So we are not replacing what existed before, but in time to come, we might have tournaments outside the shores of this country where players selected, not necessarily a team but the best in the tournament go to participate. But at the end the Secondary Education Board(SEB) still have a role to play. If SEB feels the integrity of this competition is higher than what we have out there and they want the winners in this tournament to represent FCT, why not, we are ready.”
“But we are not here to replace whatever that has existed before” he stressed
