President of Nigeria Basketball Federation, Engr. Musa Kida has reiterated his confidence in the future of the game of basketball in the country, which he describes as very bright.
In an interview, Kida hinged his optimism on the performances of basketballers at the just concluded National Sports Festival held in Benin, Edo State.
” From the games, I saw at the finals and the technical reports from Coach Ogoh, it is clear that the future of basketball in Nigeria is very bright. Our coach was very impressed with some of the players he’s seen and some of these players are actually going to be in the talents basket that we have” Kida said.
Kida went on to explain the reasons behind the gift of a complete set of tracksuits to the three top teams at the NSF.
” Again, the NSF is organized by the sports ministry and they have done their own part, which is to provide the enabling environment for the games to take place.
” The NBBF in its wisdom thought that we find something that the winners of gold, silver, and bronze, will take home. And we decided to get the complete sets of tracksuits for the players and officials,” he explained.
The multiple award-winning sports administrator further enthused that when the league games resume, the standard of the matches would be high and impressive.
” The rustiness would not be there when the league games resume. So I am happy with what I saw. You know, I have always believed in Nigerian talents. I believe in the abilities of Nigerian basketball players, wherever they are, to hold forte.
” Therefore, I am happy that the NBBF was able to attend the games and scout new talents. Definitely, the future of the game in Nigeria is very bright,” he added conclusively.
