Dannaz FC Technical Director, Akande Fatai has praised his players for stepping up their game in Sunday’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Box2box FC in the 2021 Fusion Football Championship match week 13.
A 90th minute headed goal from Onoja Matthew secured all three points for Dannaz FC, ending Box2box unbeaten run in the process. With the result, Dannaz FC sits top of the league standings with five matches left.
Speaking to Sports247 post-match, Dannaz FC Technical Director said: “The boys were able to step up their game, especially playing against a decent side which hadn’t lost before today.
“Credits to the young lads for being able to play against some experienced players who have played in the NPFL before.
“We were able to stick to our game plan and try to take our chances. It was a game of mixed moments. They had interesting moments in the first half. We had some interesting moments as well.
“Few games left, always very difficult, everybody wants to play us. We can only keep improving, keep developing the players and stay focused.”
Akande also lauded the organizers of the Fusion Football Championship and urged private investors to chip in with some financial support.
“We should give kudos to the organizers. It’s a wonderful platform. It would be nice if they are able to have more stadiums and spread out the games.
“Hopefully they can get some support from private investors. They have been doing a wonderful job,” he said.
