The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has expressed heartfelt appreciation to Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity and Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, for his pivotal role in the ongoing reconstruction of the Camp Junction to FUNAAB road.
This commendation was made during the University’s 32nd Convocation Ceremony on January 25, 2025, where Senator Salisu served as the Guest of Honour and represented the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, CON.

In his Convocation Address, HRM Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, applauded Senator Salisu for his unwavering dedication to the University’s growth.
He specifically acknowledged the Senator’s efforts in facilitating the critical road project, which is set to significantly enhance accessibility to the University and its surrounding communities.
In his remarks, Senator Salisu reaffirmed his commitment to supporting FUNAAB and its host communities.
He also emphasized his broader vision for sustainable development in Ogun Central Senatorial District and Nigeria at large.
Conveying the Ogun State Governor’s goodwill, the Senator urged universities in the state to deepen their engagement with local communities.
Governor Abiodun also reiterated his administration’s commitment to partnerships that improve educational infrastructure and the overall quality of life in Ogun State.
The long-standing challenge of the Camp-FUNAAB-Alabata road is now seeing remarkable progress, thanks to Senator Salisu’s intervention, bringing much-needed relief to road users and residents in the area.
The Convocation Ceremony drew an array of distinguished guests, including HRM Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland; HRM Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom; and other notable royal fathers within the University’s vicinity.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Visitor to the University, was represented by Prof. Kayode Adebowale, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan.
Also present were the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, CON, represented by Dr. Marcus Ogunbiyi, a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry; former FUNAAB Vice-Chancellors Prof. Olusola Bandele Oyewole and Prof. Felix Kolawole Salako; and dignitaries from various sectors.
