The Football Social Networking (FSN) Mini League 23 tournament kicked off on June 4th, 2023, and is attracting both professional and amateur players who are passionate about football and enjoy staying fit, having fun, and networking.
Taiwo Shittu, a player for the Titans, shared with Sports 247.ng that the tournament is a mini-league that brings together guys who have regular jobs but still love to play football.
The tournament features eight teams that are expected to play a total of 14 matches by the end of June. Four teams will advance to the final round, and matches take place every Saturday and Sunday. The Titans have played five games so far, winning two, drawing two, and losing one. They still have nine more games to play.
In Sunday’s game against the Dolphins at The Stables turf in Surulere, the Titans played with one man down after one of their players received a red card. Despite this setback, they managed to keep their cool and secure a goalless draw.
According to Taiwo, “The game was challenging because the Dolphins are coming from the back of two defeats in a row. And as one of the favorites in the competition to win, they came hungry. It was a really tough game for us but we thank God that we were able to come up with a draw to keep us at the top of the table”. Said Taiwo.
“We lost our last game yesterday but were able to draw today even with one man down. And I believe that next week, we are going to return to winning”
Taiwo, who is a dentist by profession, has been playing football all his life and continues to do so for his passion, fun, and fitness. He says ” I have been playing football all my life and despite my profession as a dentist, my love for football still outshines and anytime I have the opportunity to play, I always want to play”.
He believes that playing football helps him stay fit, even though he is past the age of playing professionally.
The FSN Mini League 23 tournament is a platform for players like Taiwo to showcase their skills and love for the game. It is where passion meets professionalism on the turf, and the battle for the top is heating up as the tournament progresses.
