Dosunmu emphasized the tournament’s significance as it serves as a qualifying event for the Amputee Football World Cup.

Dosunmu expressed the team’s commitment to securing victory in Egypt and appealed for support from various quarters. He stated, “As we are now, we’ve started our training, and we are trying to camp all the boys for next year’s Nations Cup coming in Egypt, 2024. The Nations Cup is the qualifier for the World Cup, so we need to go, and we are seeking help from all private companies, individuals, philanthropists, and people with passion for the games.”

Highlighting the team’s journey so far, Gbenga Dosunmu spoke of their extensive experience in international competitions. “We’ve been to many Nations Cup events, including Sierra Leone, Ghana, Liberia, and Angola. In 2019, we were in Angola to meet up with the former champions in the world. They came second on their own ground, and we’ve been to Mexico too.”

Dosunmu underlined the importance of financial support, stating, “The funds will make us go places because we’ve been to many nations cup, and the funds will make us go places. I believe the sky’s the limit for the boys because they have the passion, and they work stronger every time they are training because they want to be there, they want to make the country proud.”

With the Nigerian government providing support, Dosunmu’s call for assistance from private companies, individuals, and philanthropists emphasizes the crucial role of collective support in realizing the team’s aspirations. As the team continues their relentless training regimen, the football community eagerly anticipates Nigeria’s representation at the 2024 Amputee African Football Nations Cup.
