Fresh from victory over Nordic FC, Nigerian National League (NNL) high-flyers Vandrezzer FC of Akwa Ibom will on Saturday January 18, 2020, take on Cynosure FC of Ebonyi State, at the Afaha Offiong Mini Stadium in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Earlier scheduled for 8 am, the game will now kick – off by 10 am, after the visiting Nationwide League (NLO) club requested for a shift in time following their late arrival in Akwa Ibom on Friday night.
Ahead of the game, Lions’ coach Rafael Everton has disclosed that the team will miss the services of three key players.
Alberico Da Silva who got two assists in the last friendly against Nordic, another midfielder Anietie Uko and defender Ofonime Afangide, are all down with fever.
According to Coach Everton, “the three players are recovering and won’t be available for selection”.
Despite missing the services of the trio, the Lions still boast of a robust squad with the likes of Daniel Ekpo, Ekerete Udom, Christopher Lolo, Onyekachi Akakem amongst others all fit and available for selection today.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Victor is still out with the ankle injury sustained on Sunday, while Samuel Edoho who also picked up a knock last Sunday, is fully recovered and back in training.
Saturday’s game will be the first of two friendlies for Cynosure, as they later take on another NNL side Ibom Youth FC same day by 4pm, as part of preparations for the new NLO season.
For Vandrezzer, it will be the fourth friendly in a week having lost to fellow NNL side Abia Comets on Sunday, drew goalless with NPFL side Abia Warriors on Monday and recorded a 2-1 victory against Nordic FC on Wednesday.
The Nigeria National League is yet to resume from Christmas/New Year break due to some administrative reason, according to the league management.
