France Vs Nigeria: Ashleigh Plumptre Reacts To First Super Falcons’ Invitation After 18 Months

Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre has responded to her first invitation after 18 months as Nigeria takes on France this Saturday, Sports247 reports.

Plumptre was part of the twenty players invited by Super Falcons’ interim coach Justin Magudu ahead of the international friendly match between Nigeria and France slated for Angers this weekend.

The invitation came after 18 months the defender played her last game for the Super Falcons when the Super Falcons lost to the Three Lioness of England at the 2024 Women FIFA World Cup in the round of 16 in Australia.

Plumptre was sidelined by injuries after she moved to Saudi Arabia to continue her professional career but after her injuries, and consequently left out of the 2024 Paris Olympics, after she missed all the qualifiers en route to the Olympics.

In reaction to the invitation, Plumptre wrote on her verified social media, ” Feels great to have made the super falcons list for the upcoming international games”

She expressed her readiness to fight for the badge once again, ” Good opportunity to fight for the badge again 💯” Plumptre wrote.

The post has generated lots of reaction as many of her admirers and fans of the Super Falcons congratulations her over the return and wish her all the best.

The Super Falcons will face their french counterpart in an international friendly at the Stade Raymond Kopa in Angers this weekend as the part of the preparation ahead of the 2024 African Women Cup of Nations.

Coach Justin Magudu has reiterated his plans to restore the Super Falcons pride and fear factor on the continent after the team relinquished her Africa Title at last 2022 edition in Morocco.

The multiple winner of the Nations has been drawn alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana in Group B As the team remain focused on the immediate task of winning the 2024 African Women Nations due for Morocco next year.

The Les Bleues are also preparing for the League of Nations in the spring and the 2025 UEFA Euro Women Championship in Switzerland as the friendly match between the two teams will come handy to put the two teams in good shape ahead of their respective competitions.
