Coach of Fortune Football Academy of Oshodi, Fortune Damilola has expressed satisfaction with the team’s victory over their opponents in the ongoing U-14 Ozoya Youth Cup taking place at the L.G.E.A playground, Oshodi, Lagos.
Fortune defeated Starlite Football Academy 2-1 in the group opening match.
The tournament which kicked off last weekend was sponsored by Monday Nas Ozoya, President of OZOYA Football Foundation.
Damilola commended his players for their resilience and fighting spirits exhibited against their opponents. He however charged his boys not to rest on their oars and to remain focused in their subsequent matches.
“It was a good start for us because we played against a compact team that has character. It was a hard-fought victory because both teams played well and at the end of the day the better side won the game,” he said.
In other results, TLF lost 0 – 1 to Don Baba Foundation, Golden Lion suffered 1 – 4 to Dynamos, Greatness humbled Varsity 3-0 as Shinning beat Unique 1- 0.
Among the teams participating are Lofty Skills SA, Fortune Fa, Dynamos FC, and Greatness FC.
Match coordinator, Micheal Onaolapo said the competition was organized to keep the academies within Oshodi and its environs busy and urged the coaches and club owners to maintain rules and regulations throughout the tournament.
He disclosed that cash prizes and kits would be rewarded to the winners by the cup donor.
