Mansur Abdullahi, former assistant coach of the Super Falcons, has issued a warning to the handlers of the Super Falcons not to underestimate the South African side ahead of their upcoming match
Abdullahi emphasized that while the Super Falcons possess the quality to win the match, they should not overlook the threat posed by the South African team.
“Football is not played by what people are thinking. Everybody has the right to kind of psychological, to make some talk to affect the opponent’s psychology.
We can not write off South Africa at all. But again, our girls are equal to the task, looking at the performances of our girls at their club level,” Abdullahi stated.
Abdullahi acknowledged that there have been improvements in the South African team since their last encounter with the Super Falcons.
He urged the Super Falcons to remain focused and not to rely solely on past performances.
“These are not the same club of players. Some of those players are no more in the Falcons.
There are some other fresh legs. History can not be repeated since 2019. We are now in 2024.
If you expect Falcons not to improve, I and you will know that there is a lot of improvement in the Falcons,” Abdullahi explained.
Highlighting the unpredictability of football, Abdullahi stressed that each match is unique, and past results should not dictate future outcomes.
He called for a psychological approach to prepare the Super Falcons for the match against South Africa.
“Looking at 2019, this is now 2024. We expect our girls to keep that aside from all what has happened before now, and to go into the field and do the needful.
And the coaches of the Super Falcons are at one,” Abdullahi emphasized.
Abdullahi expressed confidence in the technical abilities of the Super Falcons but emphasized the importance of psychological preparation for the match.
He reiterated the need for caution and focus to secure victory against South Africa in Nigeria.
