Former Nigerian international and ex-Stationary Stores player, Coach Taiwo Oloyede, has slammed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) following their appointment of Malian-born Éric Sékou Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.
Expressing his anger, Oloyede said, “He be like say I go leave dis coaching job go join another job. How can a Malian come dey coach our national team? Dis NFF don’t know what they are doing.”

Oloyede’s comments reflect the frustration of many local coaches and football stakeholders, who feel the NFF has consistently overlooked homegrown talent for key coaching positions. He continued, “We have capable hands here in Nigeria. Why not give one of us the chance to handle the team?”
The appointment of Chelle has sparked controversy, with critics questioning the decision to bring in a foreign coach instead of promoting local expertise. Oloyede’s outburst adds to the growing debate over the NFF’s long-term strategy for the Super Eagles
