Nigerian defender Joshua Akpudje has joined FK Jablonec from Latvian club BFC Daugavpils for an undisclosed fee, Sports247.ng reports.
Akpudje has penned a two-year contract with FK Jablonec. He will wear the number 44 jersey at his new club.
“Lagos native Joshua Akpudje is the new Jablonec player! The stopper from Nigeria, who has been active in Latvia and Lithuania for the last two years, has signed a contract in Jablonec until June 30, 2024,” Jablonec announced on their website.
Akpudje started his professional career with Nigerian Professional Football League side MFM FC in 2019. After a season, he moved to Europe when he joined BFC Daugavpils in the Latvian Higher League.
The center-back made 47 for Daugavpils and was transferred to FK Panevėžys on loan in February 2022. The 24-year-old will continue his career with Jablonec who are second from bottom in the Czech First League this season after seven rounds of matches.
Speak after the move, Akpudje said: “It is the dream of every young player to fight for his future. I am grateful to God for the opportunity to be in Jablonec. Now is the time to start working on a better future.”
