Former Golden Eaglets Captain Samson Tijani Joins Fredrikstad FK on Loan

The 22-year-old midfielder will remain with the Norwegian outfit until December 2024 as he seeks more playing time and experience in a new environment.

Tijani, who captained Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil, has struggled to secure a regular spot in Salzburg’s first team since joining the club in 2020. He has made only three league appearances for the Austrian champions.

Over the past few seasons, Tijani has spent time on loan with several clubs, including TSV Hartberg, Liefering, and Wolfsberger AC, where he gained valuable playing experience.

At Wolfsberger AC, Tijani made 28 appearances during the 2023/24 season, following 18 appearances for TSV Hartberg in the 2020/21 season and 16 outings for Liefering. Despite these stints, the talented midfielder has found it challenging to establish himself at Salzburg.

Fredrikstad FK, currently fifth in the Norwegian league after 21 matches, will be Tijani’s next destination as he continues to develop his skills and seek consistent playing time.

The move offers Tijani an opportunity to make a significant impact in the Norwegian top flight and further his career in European football.
