Former Super Falcons Coach, James Peters has expressed dismay and shock with the team’s outing in their first match of the ongoing Africa Women Cup of Nations following their 1-0 loss to the Bayana Bayana of South Africa on Sunday at the Cape Coast stadium in Ghana.
The defending champions failed to capitalize on their superior possession as the ladies from South Africa took a shock lead in the 85th minute through Thembi Kgatlana.
The Super Falcons until now are yet to lose to the South African women team in any competition and went into the game with huge expectations.
Reacting to the team’s shock loss, Coach Peters said the team’s overall performance was abysmal and he can only score them 5%. “This is not the Super Falcons we know. The ones we saw playing on Sunday all played like a primary school team and not as if they are representing Nigeria at a tournament such as the Africa Women Cup of Nations.
Nigeria’s Next game will be against Zambia on Wednesday November 21st. Zambia are currently top of group B after their shock 5 – 0 win over two time AWCON champions Equatorial Guinea in their opening match.
