Hosted by NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, the meeting underscored a shared commitment to advancing sports development in Nigeria.

Comrade Philip Shuaibu, a passionate advocate for sports, has played a significant role in revitalizing the sector, particularly in Edo State.

As Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2022 National Sports Festival, he was instrumental in delivering a successful event.

Beyond administration, he made history as the first serving deputy governor in Nigeria to actively compete in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), playing for Insurance of Benin.

Discussions during the visit focused on key areas of collaboration to further enhance Nigerian sports, aligning with the NSC’s Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy (RHINSE) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Mallam Dikko praised Comrade Shuaibu’s unwavering dedication to sports, describing him as a key stakeholder whose contributions continue to shape the industry.

“His involvement, both on and off the field, is a testament to his deep passion for sports. Together, we are committed to driving policies and initiatives that will elevate Nigerian sports to new heights,” Dikko stated.

The visit signals a renewed push for strategic partnerships aimed at positioning Nigerian sports as a thriving sector within the national economy.
