Skambo Morisson, former D’Tigers player and current Chairman of the Basketball Association in Kaduna State, has given a lukewarm rating of four out of ten to the basketball calendar year of 2023.
While acknowledging some positive developments, Morisson expressed disappointment, emphasizing that the sport could have achieved a higher rating if not for stunted improvements in certain areas.

“We should have been seven, but we’re four. And I say this four because it’s a small majority that benefited and that participated in the whole of the team.
But I’m happy about some of the recent programs that emanated, but we would’ve been seven, but I can just rate us at four,” Morisson candidly stated, shedding light on his assessment.
The former D’Tigers player highlighted his dissatisfaction with the limited scope of progress and participation, suggesting that a smaller segment of individuals reaped the benefits.
Despite acknowledging positive developments in recent programs, Morisson underscored the missed opportunities that prevented the basketball community from achieving a higher rating.
As Morisson’s critique reflects a nuanced perspective on the state of basketball in 2023, it signals a call to action for stakeholders to address concerns and implement measures that can elevate the sport’s overall performance and inclusivity in the coming years.
