Forgotten Super Eagles Defender Returns To Football After 18 Months

Forgotten Super Eagles defender, Kingsley Madu has returned to active football, joined a new club after 18 months of being clubless, Sports247 reports.

Kingsley Madu has signed an Eighteen month deal with Slovakian Premier League side, MFK Zemplín Michalovce FC, a club statement revealed.

The deal is expected to run out at the end of 2025/2026 with an option to extend till the end of 2026/2027.

The former Trencin FC player last played active football in the 2022/2023 season and remain club less after his contract runs out with Trencin.

In his first statement after his unveiling as a player of MFK Zemplín Michalovce, Madu said he is happy to restart his Career after a long time out and declare his willingness to work hard and help MFK Zemplin Michalovce, a club he described as a great club.

“I want to work hard and help the team. I hope that we secure a place in the top six and maybe even fight for the European Cup.”

“MFK Zemplín is a great club with good players who want to play football. I am very happy that I can represent Michalovce. I am extremely happy that I can start my career again after a long time.”

Madu joins two other Nigerians, Abdul Zubair and Issa Adekunle, at MFK Zemplín Michalovce.

Kingsley Madu was a member of the Nigeria football team to the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil and helped the team to win a bronze medal.

The 29 year old won a domestic double with AS Trenčín in back-to-back seasons, 2014–15 and 2015–16 and had three caps for the Super Eagles of Nigeria as he last played for the Super Eagles in 2016.
