Ogo Clarkson has advised coaches, scouts, and sporting directors of Nigerian clubs to prioritize signing talented players ahead of the new season.
While acknowledging the slight improvement in the domestic league, he condemned the persistent practice of bribing match officials and manipulating results to favor certain teams, urging those responsible to desist from such unethical behavior.
“Spanish 16-year-old Yamal played alongside top players like Mbappe, Kante, and other world-class stars, but his contributions stood out, helping Spain reach the 2024 Euro final. This is a lesson for Nigerian coaches to learn from – to encourage and develop young talent. Opportunities (signing window) abound in Nigeria, and coaches and scouts should focus on discovering fresh young talent instead of relying on tired and recycled players. This would reduce the need for questionable refereeing and bribery in the league.”
