The tournament, featuring both men’s and women’s categories, will follow a knockout format and take place across the IBILE zones of Lagos—Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, and Epe.
F2G Founder and FIFA-Licensed Agent, Babajimi Ogunlana, emphasized that the competition is more than just a football tournament; it is a launchpad for young athletes, providing them with mentorship and pathways to self-sufficiency.
“This tournament is not just about the game; it’s about empowerment, mentorship, and career development. F2G provides young athletes with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the pitch,” he stated.
Chairman of the Main Organizing Committee, Sola Rogers, reaffirmed F2G’s commitment to fairness and credibility, ensuring a transparent and competitive platform.
“With strong partnerships and key stakeholders on board, F2G 2025 will be a transformative experience for young players in Lagos,” he added.
The tournament will follow a knockout format, with the top three teams from each division, plus one additional team, advancing to the round of 16. To ensure fair play, NPFL and NNL players are ineligible, while NLO players are permitted.
Each team must submit a roster of up to 25 players and five officials, along with mandatory documentation, including a National ID, LASSRA ID, and a passport photograph. Men’s teams will register for NGN 40,000, while women’s teams will pay NGN 20,000, with the registration deadline set for March 30, 2025.
Matches will be played in an 11-a-side format, with each game consisting of two 45-minute halves.
Beyond football, F2G integrates a strong emphasis on life skills and vocational training, ensuring participants receive mentorship and career development support.
After the tournament, teams will have the opportunity to register their nominated players in 18 different vocational trades at 20 Skills Acquisition Centers across Lagos State, offering practical training that enhances their long-term economic prospects.
This initiative is designed to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, ensuring that even after the final whistle blows, players are equipped with skills that can provide sustainable livelihoods.
The inaugural F2G Symposium, held on February 27, 2025, was a resounding success, setting the stage for a transformative year. As anticipation builds for the tournament, F2G Cup 2025 is set to redefine grassroots football and youth empowerment, creating life-changing opportunities for young athletes across Lagos.
