Flying Eagles starboy, Success Makanjuola has said five-time Ballon d’Or winner and Barcelona legend, Lionel Messi is his role model and that he watches his video clips to help him improve.
Following a man of the match performance in the Eagles’ friendly draw against Red Bull Salzburg, the 18-year-old told to Sports247 from the team’s training base in Germany, that he hopes to one day reach the height of the Barcelona legend.
“Obviously, Lionel Messi remains my Idol. He his one player I admire so much, and I love his playing style, both on and off the pitch and I hope to one day be like him or even more but i must work very hard to reach such heights.
“There is never a day I don’t watch his clips because i try to learn something new from him and also use it to improve my own game also,” Makanjuola said.
The FC Water of Abuja star however concluded that he is not carried away by the man of the match tag in the team’s friendly against Salzburg as he remains focused and committed to ensure he writes his name in the country’s history books by bringing home the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
