Adewale Oladoye ex Flying Eagles’ star make an instant statement in Gent’s 2-2 home draw against Latvia’s RFS in the Europa Conference unification match on Thursday.
Oladoye who played the entire duration of the match started Gent’s comeback with a 52nd-minute goal after the visitors had scored two first-half goals via Darko Lemajic and Tomas Simkovic.
The bulky midfielder who was making his European debut for Gent was instrumental in his side’s second goal which was finished up by Tarik Tissoudali with less than 20 minutes to end the game.
Gent dominated the remaining proceedings but fell short of an initiative to get the needed winning goal.
Oladoye was simply a delight to watch in the middle of the pack, a performance that earned him a match of the match award.
The highly-rated Water FC product with his Gent side now has an herculean task to book a place in the next stage as they must get a decent result in the second leg slated for Latvia next week.
Oladoye joined Gent in the early part of 2021 from Water FC alongside Emeka Chinonso.
