Flying Eagles Set for Final Camp in Ikenne Ahead of 2024 WAFU B U20 Championship

Nigeria’s U20 boys, the Flying Eagles, will relocate to Ikenne, Ogun State, for a final training camp ahead of the 2024 WAFU B U20 Championship.

They will train at the Remo Sports Institute, an elite facility owned by Remo Stars, for one week as part of their preparation to defend the WAFU B title they won two years ago in Niger Republic.

Nigeria is grouped in Group B alongside Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire, while hosts Togo will battle Ghana, Benin Republic, and Niger Republic in Group A.

The tournament will run from October 17 to 31, 2024, and will serve as a qualifying competition for the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The top four teams from AFCON will advance to the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.

Head coach Aliyu Zubairu has stressed the need for “total concentration” during the final phase of preparations, as the team aims to retain their WAFU B crown and secure qualification for both AFCON and the World Cup.

With high hopes and a title to defend, the Flying Eagles are expected to leave for Lomé after their final camp in Ikenne.
