Flying Eagles head coach Paul Aigbogun has refuted claims of public disturbance labeled against him by a Nigeria online blog which claimed he was arrested by the London Police outside a woman’s house on Friday, December 28 on charges of domestic violence and being over legal alcohol limit.
The former Enyimba International and Warri Wolves handler has revealed exclusively to sports247.ng that the claims are totally untrue, unfounded and is channeled towards destroying his good image and career which he has painstakingly built over the years through hard work, diligence and dedication.
Aigbogun who is currently in his London base celebrating the yuletide season has stated that the issue came to him as a shock and he is already in talks with his lawyers on the next point of action. “I’m shocked with this evil report and I’m disappointed with the writer, and currently considering what legal action to take. It’s totally untrue and in such a case with the police, a report on the arrest should be produced and pictures evidence.
I’m currently in the UK with my family and how the reporter came up with that false report is shocking. I did a background check on the reporter and discovered this is normality for him. He lives and feed with blackmailing, he’s even faceless.”
Aigbogun has also revealed that this is mainly a cheap way of trying to make the team lose concentration ahead of the forthcoming U-20 AFCON. “I have been in the UK spending time with my family, celebrating Christmas and taking time out with the family before we resume camping for AFCON U20. I urge the public to disregard the false report by the blackmailer; the world should ask him pictorial evidence and the police report. I just want to clear the air in the media as advised by my legal counsel to address the report through the press before taking legal action against him.”
The Flying Eagles will resume camp in January ahead of the 2019 U-20 AFCON from February 2 – 17 in Niger Republic with the team aiming to pick one of the four available tickets for the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.
