Technical Adviser of Nasarawa United Football Club, Bala Nikyu, has thumbed up his wards’ outstanding performance despite the outcome of his team’s preseason friendly match against Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, today, Thursday,12th November 2020.
In a post-match interview at the FIFA Goal Project, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, Bala Nikyu said the final result was immaterial as the game provided him the opportunity to identify grey areas that require adjustments before the new league season which is scheduled to commence on Sunday, 6th December 2020.
“It was a good match. Winning and losing is part of the game, and it’s on rare occasions that you can pick a draw.
“The most important aspect of this game is that we in the Technical Department have been able to identify some grey areas that we need to work on within the next few days before the league starts”, he opined.
Rating the performance of the Flying Eagles, the United gaffer said they gave a good fight and dominated the game.
He, however, encouraged the Flying Eagles to maintain the momentum.
His counterpart in the dugout, Ladan Bosso, hailed the performance of Nasarawa United, saying they gave a great fight.
“It was a good test. This is what we are looking for.
“Nasarawa United is a good side with great players. For the past few years, this is the best team they have assembled.”
“But tactically, for the little time we have stayed with our boys, and working on how to get the goals came to play in today’s encounter.
Compared to other previous friendlies, Ladan Bosso described today’s game against Nasarawa United as the biggest test so far for his team.
Nasarawa United lost the Grade ‘A’ preseason match 4-2 with Abdullahi Aliyu(17′) and Silas Nwankwo(27′) scoring for the Solid Miners while Chris Nweze(3′, 30′), Azeez Oseni(20′), Chris Nweze(penalty 30′), and Wisdom Ubani (56′) netted for the Flying Eagles of Nigeria.
Nasarawa United will play one more friendly match in Abuja on Friday before returning to its base in Lafia.
