Sports247 reports that a goalless draw for the Flamingos during the second leg of their final qualifier away to Algeria in Bilda this past Friday ensured that Coach Bankole Olowookere’s side will be one of five African teams at the expanded global competition later this year.

With that in mind, Azeezat Oduntan assured their fans that all the players will keep working hard individualy and collectively, in order to ensure that they remain in top shape for a first ever 24-team format contest at the Women’s Cadet Mundial that will hold in Morocco from October 17th to November 5th.

Oduntan also reflected on Friday’s match in Bilda, which she admitted was tougher than expected, as the hosts, who lost the first leg 4-0 on Ikenne, Ogun State, stopped the Flamingos from achieving their target of another away victory to wrap up in style their qualification race to Maroc 2025.

“It was our last game of the qualifiers,” Oduntan pointed out. “Though we could not win, we tried our possible best, and we still got our ticket to the World Cup. Now we have to work harder.

“We have to ensure that our hard work continues. We still have many hurdles to go. So, we will not relax. We will do everything better, and we want to work harder to ensure that we win in Morocco.”

Sports247 gathered further that the Nigerian team’s coach, Bankole Olowookere and his crew will be banking on more heroics from Oduntan, as well as the like of Queen Joseph, Zainab Raji and Aisha Animashaun, who all scored during the first leg, to ensure a better run for the country this year than the squad’s bronze medal finish at the 2022 edition in India and quarter-finals ouster last year in USA
