Flamingos Draw Mexico 1-1 in FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Warm-up Match

As part of their preparation for the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria’s Flamingos held Mexico to a 1-1 draw in a friendly match on Monday, October 7, 2024.

Faridat Abdulkareem opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 33rd minute with a well-executed team move, but Ana Salas drew Mexico level (42nd minute) just before halftime.

Both teams battled through the second half but were unable to break the deadlock.

This friendly match which took place in Santiago in the Dominican Republic where the tournament will take place, was a key part of the Flamingos’ buildup to their campaign.

Nigeria is grouped with the host nation, New Zealand, and Ecuador in Group A, and they are set to kick off their tournament against New Zealand on October 16, 2024.

Having finished third in the 2022 edition of the competition, the Flamingos are aiming to go even further this time around.
