Flag Football Showtime Summer Series: Greenbacks’ Boss Taofeek John Omosanya Braves Various Challenges In Flag Football League

Greenbacks owner, Taofeek John Omosanya has disclosed that he and his players are facing many challenges in their desire to become champions of this year’s Showtime Summer Series, but affirmed that they are determined to overcome all the odds.

Omosanya said this in an exclusive interview with Sports247, during which he further disclosed that distance and cost of transportation have limited his team’s training sessions to only once a week.

Omosanya, who also coaches and plays for the team, while wearing jersey number 20 during matches, added that Greenbacks equally have to overcome various administrative and management obstacles.

He noted, “To create a team and to have a team that you can keep going are two very difficult things. Those are part of the challenges we are facing.

“Another big problem for us is that our players have to come to practice before every game, but it’s difficult for those who live far away.

They have to face transport costs and heavy traffic for them to be there. All the same, we are trying our best to be the champions this season; but we know it’s not going to be easy.”

Omosanya then spoke about some measures being undertaken by the team’s management to alleviate the strain on their players and, though he admitted their efforts appear to be minimal, he promised that they will keep trying to get things right.

The flag football guru, who is fondly called ’20,’ added: “We can practise only once in a week, which is not good enough. However, as an ambitious player, that should not be an excuse. As a professional, you should know that even one second of practice can take you a long way; if you know what you are doing.

“However, in this league, I don’t think one day’s practice is enough. I’m looking at three days or four days for the team; to help us clinch the championship title. I don’t care so much about the challenges, though, because, as long as we are all players, I believe we can do something fine.”

He concluded by expressing optimism for rewards of the efforts he and everyone else at Greenbacks are putting into their preparation for games, while also hoping that their zeal while playing matches will crystallise into success for them, as it did on Sunday.

“I was happy when we defeated Raptors. We needed to beat them because they are ahead of us on the table. Imagine, though we defeated them, we are still under them because of their points difference.

“It’s just three points, though. So, we are hopeful of overtaking them, especially as we were able to keep them down with 20 points apart in this game,” Omosanya expatiated.
