Five more spaces are up for grabs as the race to Morocco 2025 reach the finish line with the Matchday six starting from Monday, Sports247 reports.
The tournament, set to take place in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, will feature 24 teams, 19 of whom have already secured their spots.
As the qualifiers conclude with matches from Sunday through to Tuesday, the race for second place in several groups remains fiercely contested.

Group D: A Tightrope for Libya and Rwanda
In Group D, Libya finds itself with a unique opportunity to climb from last place to second if they can beat Benin at home on Monday. Benin currently holds the second spot but faces immense pressure to secure a result. Meanwhile, Rwanda has an outside chance of qualifying but must pull off an improbable away win against group leaders Nigeria, who have already booked their ticket to Morocco.
Group F: Sudan Holds the Advantage
Monday will also see Group F’s second-place decider, with Sudan needing just a draw against already-qualified Angola. A loss for Sudan, however, could open the door for Niger, who must win away against Ghana. The Black Stars, eliminated after Friday’s 1-1 draw in Angola, could still play spoiler to Niger’s hopes.
Group I: Lusophone Rivalry
Tuesday’s clash between Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique in Group I is a winner-takes-all showdown. Both sides have performed admirably in the qualifiers, but only one will join group leaders Mali in Morocco.
Group C: Botswana’s Tricky Task
Botswana sits in second place with a two-point advantage over Cape Verde and Mauritania. However, their final match is a daunting trip to Cairo to face an Egyptian side already assured of qualification. Cape Verde and Mauritania, meanwhile, will battle each other for a potential last-minute leap into second place if Botswana slips.
Group H: Guinea and Tanzania’s Final Battle
In Group H, Guinea holds the upper hand with a two-point lead over Tanzania. The two teams meet in a decisive clash in Dar es Salaam, where Guinea needs only a draw to qualify. Tanzania must secure all three points to claim the second spot behind DR Congo, who have already booked their ticket.
