Rivers United of Port Harcourt coach, Finidi George is relishing his side’s goalless draw away to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan on Monday and reckoned that his team now has an advantage over The Oluyole Warriors.
Sports247 reports that The Garden City side put up a gritty fight at Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, where they picked four yellow cards and the coach was forced into three timely substitutions, but Finidi said afterwards that he knew all along that it would be a game of equal opportunities.

The former Super Eagles’ dashing winger and ex-head coach analysed, “It was a cracker and a good game. We went there with a strategy to play and win, because we knew what was at stake. We could not go out to speculate, and we knew it was a 50-50 option. So, we had to go for it.”
The result means Rivers United remain second on the table of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) with 42 points and goals difference of +6, which betters +5 for 3SC, who are third on same number of points, while Rangers of Enugu, Ikorodu City of Lagos and Abia Warriors of Umuahia all have 41 points each.
Finidi took a look at the log and checked the fixtures remaining for his major rivals, ahead of which he opined that Rivers United have an advantage that could keep them atop the chasing pack till the last blast of the season.
“We couldn’t let them win and get three points ahead of us. So, we had to give it our all and see what we could get from the game. We know, definitely, they will have two away matches later on, and that would be an advantage for us. Going there and not losing is a plus for us,” enthused the former winger, who was fondly called ‘Finito’ during his playing days.
