Former international, Mutiu Adepoju, has endorsed Finidi George as the ideal candidate to take the helm of the Super Eagles.
George, a former winger, recently led the team in friendlies against Ghana and Mali, and has expressed interest in the coaching position.

Adepoju, who shared the pitch with George in their playing days, is confident in his former teammate’s abilities.
“With only two games under his belt, his record of one win and one loss is not bad at all,” Adepoju told Flashscore.
He believes it would be a mistake to judge George solely on the defeat against Mali, pointing out that even José Peseiro, a previous coach of the Super Eagles, didn’t win every game.
Adepoju argues that George deserves trust and the opportunity to build confidence. He anticipates improvements in all aspects of the game under George’s direction.
“I think he has identified the areas that need correction,” Adepoju said.
The Super Eagles emerged victorious against Ghana but suffered a defeat against Mali under George’s leadership.
Despite the mixed results, Adepoju views the victory as a positive outcome for the Super Eagles.
“This means that we have achieved a victory in two games, which, in my opinion, is not a bad result for the Super Eagles in general,” he said.
The Nigeria Football Federation is expected to announce a substantive head coach for the Super Eagles next month.
With Adepoju’s endorsement and his performance in the recent friendlies, Finidi George could be a strong contender for the position.
