Some weeks back, something remarkable happened to me. I experienced what you call a paradigm shift. It’s with respect to the issue of financial discipline. That fateful day, I had just finished taking my lunch and was about to resume work. Then I just decided to go online, when I saw a very beautiful picture of delicious-looking Jollof rice with all sorts of assorted meats and the like. I immediately felt hungry again, though I had just finished eating, I felt the immediate impulse to order for the food.
Needless to say, it took all the self-restraints in me to desist from the impulse. This then became a source of contemplation for me: If I had ordered for the food; what would be my real benefits since I was already full? I there and then saw that most of the stuff we buy may not have real benefits to us.
Financial discipline is almost becoming a myth and an endangered philosophy. Do you realize that many of us have embraced financial indiscipline in all of our purchasing decisions? If you are in doubts; simply look back over the past weeks at your expenses.
In 2020 you and I must embrace discipline in all our financial dealings. That’s the only way we can truly gain mastery in our finances.
