Falconets captain, Demehin Blessing has lamented the untimely exit of the team in the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup tournament following the defeat against the Netherlands.
Chris Danjuma’s side won all their group games amassing 9 points in total to face the Netherlands in the quarter-final with the Dutch side running out eventual winners in a 0-2 scoreline at the Estadio Alajuela Morera stadium.
The team’s defensive errors gifted Netherlands two goals despite enjoying much of the ball with VAR’s intervention to cancel out a penalty award for the Nigerian team which could have been a consolation.
Reacting after the loss, Demehin said, “This is not how we wanted to end the competition but we have to accept, learn from it and grow.”
“The experience and exposure was needed too. Super proud of the Teamš¤š¤.Thank you all for your good wishes and support šššš https://t.co/akoEYKoXAL
