In continuation of the preparation for the U-17 World Cup tournament, the Flamingos got another momentum in a 3-1 friendly win against Turkish side, Galatasaray in Kocaeli, Turkey where they are camped.
The team safely arrived Istanbul before connecting to Kocaeli on Wednesday and had since settled down at Dedeman Hotel to continue their preparations.
As a morale booster ahead of the highly prestigious tournament, the Flamingos earned a comfortable victory against Turkish giants Galatasaray in a friendly game in Kocaeli.
Opeyemi Ajakaye gave the Nigerian girls the lead in the 26th minute as Etim Edidiong bagged another in the 34th minute to double the lead.
Ebru Topliv pulled one back for the Turkish side in the 44th minute but Etim completed her brace to ensure complete victory in the 77th minute.
Nigeria didn’t qualify for the last edition and has not gone past the quarterfinal stage on five occasions but the headcoach, Bankole Olowookere revealed that they are putting all thier effort to do better than previous editions and will surely have a glorious outing this time around in India.
Nigeria will represent Africa along with the debutante duo of Tanzania and Morocco, they will be jetting off to India from Istanbul on October 6.
