Former Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu has charged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to take the rankings very seriously as this will help the country in terms of better seedings when draws of the tournament (Nations Cup and World Cup) commences next year.
Nigeria will end 2020 as the 4th best team in Africa and 35th in the world, according to FIFA in its Rankings release yesterday, through their (FIFA) official website.
Following yesterday’s Rankings, the 2002 World Cup Shotstopper has urged the Super Eagles to be wary of the rankings as this might determine if they are to get better seedings or not during international draws for tournaments.
In a chat with Sports247, the former Super Eagles number one admitted that it is important that Nigeria are in a good position in terms of the FIFA rankings, as this will help them get favorable draws.
“When FIFA are doing their thing, they first look at the ranking before they now know which team is placed in what category. So the ranking is very important to the country and I hope good things will follow”, he said.
