The Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) have confirmed the exclusion of Nigeria’s D’Tigress from the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Sports247 reports.
Due to the in-house rancor in Nigeria’s basketball that led to the ministry choosing to shut down basketball activities in the country for two years, FIBA had earlier received the decision from the president of the Nigeria Basketball Federation.
After all, efforts to resolve it proved abortive, FIBA has invited the next ranked side, Mali to take Nigeria’s slot in Group B of the qualifying campaign for the 2022 World Cup and has also stated that further sanctions might be imposed.
In a press release from FIBA, it stated “FIBA will announce whether there will be any other decisions related to the NBBF’s participation in other FIBA competitions and any potential disciplinary measures in due course.”
