Rivers United defense marshall, Festus Austin has given the club’s fans a high hope ahead of the team’s second leg tie in the CAF Champions League first preliminary round with Watanga FC of Liberia.
Rivers United departed for Liberia Friday morning to prosecute the return fixture after they kicked off their Champions League campaign in a wonderful fashion.
Festus, Speaking to sports247 Naija said though the job is almost done, just fifty percent of it has been fulfilled. “We left for Liberia this morning. We know how important the game is to all Nigerians. Although, we have done about fifty percent of the job in Nigeria.
The Port Harcourt-based team cruised past their West African Neighbor in an encounter believed to be easy but the 33-year-old is focused on completing the task to perfection. “We will not relent because we just have to complete the job to one hundred percent.
“We are going to Liberia to bring it all out and to do our job. We will be focused believing that we will get it right.
Rivers United went ahead last week, many thanks to a 3-0 first-leg win at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Rivers State. Kenechukwu Agu opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute. Ebure Dudu and Paul Acquah provided the second and third goals respectively.
