Nigeria’s female cricket national team will return to camp in January 13th, as the players, coaches and officials commence preparations for a friendly against Rwanda and other events.
Sports247.ng gathered as much from Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), which disclosed that 16 players have been selected to fly the nation’s flag in a bilateral series against Rwanda’s female national team.
NCF’s public relations officer, Musa Ehizoje disclosed that the series will hold from January 23 to 30 in Abuja.
The five match series, which will have two One Day Internationals of 40 overs and three T-20 games, will be played on the cricket turf pitch of Package B, National Stadium, Abuja.
Ehizoje also revealed that the selected players are Ephraim Grace, Obulor Agatha, Igbobie Abigail, Faith Fyneface, Samantha Agazuma, Favour Esiegbe, Hannah Ayoka, Blessing Etim and Blessing Nwobodo.
Others are Joy Efosa, Blessing Frank, Taiwo Abdulquadri, Rachael Samson, Mary Desmond, Timi Seaman and Ogechi George.
They were selected from a previous week-long camping session that began on January 3 in Kaduna.
Ehizoje stated: “A closed Female camp will resume in Abuja on January 13.
“Both countries are using the bilateral series as part of the preparations for the tournament in May.
“The Nigeria National Female team has also been scheduled by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to participate in the 2019 ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe.
“The qualifiers will hold from May 3 to May 13, and will feature Rwanda, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and host Zimbabwe.”
