Former Edo Swan boss late Felix Osagie Okugbe will resurrect today, Thursday October 10th 2024, in Benin City when the 4th Edition of a football tournament in his honour gets underway at Emotan college sports ground, Benin City Edo state.
Organised by the Federation of Youth soccer clubs ( FEYSOC) Edo state , today’s curtain raiser match slated for Emotan college sports ground, Benin City from 3pm, is between Edo Swan and Ex players of Ugbowo Bombers FC and Friends of Okugbe to mark the ninth year remembrance of the former Sports Editor of Edo Broadcasting service (EBS)
This year tournament in memory of the Late FEYSOC Director for Edo and Delta states, will be competed for by under 16 Boys teams in Edo state and proudly sponsored by Friends of Felix Okugbe and ex players of his Pet Club the famous Ugbowo Bombers FC of Benin city that won the 1992 Gothia Cup tournament in Sweden.

Over 16 youth teams in the state including the new look Ugbowo Bombers FC, have registered for the tournament that will begin proper on Sunday 13th October 2024.
Speaking on behalf of the Ex players of Ugbowo Bombers FC on Wednesday in Benin City, Prince Bobby Winner Okojie said sponsoring the tournament is their own little way to remember their former coach and boss Felix Okugbe for his contributions to sports during his life time.
” It has become a yearly ritual for us the Ex Players of Ugbowo Bombers FC in remembering our late coach and boss, we shall keep doing this for him, is our own little way to immortalize the great sports icon, who excel as a sports journalist and sports administrator.”
“He did so much for sports especially Football, Ugbowo Bombers FC became famous under his watch, we can’t thank FEYSOC members enough for the initiative, I want to implore all Ex players of Ugbowo Bombers FC and Friends of the late professor of sports to keep supporting the annual event, Okojie posited.
He went on to thank the Ex Players of Ugbowo Bombers FC and Friends of Okugbe for their wonderful contributions towards the tournament since inception adding that God will meet with them at the point of their needs.
Felix Okugbe, the former CEO of Mudial Sports international, MSI was a presenter of a sports show on Africa independent Television, AIT during his lifetime and was also well traveled. He attended various sporting events outside the country, including the FIFA World Cups.
