Technical Director of Bayelsa Queens Football Club, Akeem Busari has dedicated the team’s victory at the just concluded Federation Cup final to their fans who had road accident while coming to Asaba to support them during the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL Super six.
Bayelsa Queens defeated Rivers Angels 4-2 on penalties after barren draw at the regulation time to win the Federation Cup back to back in Delta State.
Busari in a chat with sports247.ng this morning expressed gratitude to God to win the oldest football competition in Nigeria back to back and dedicated the trophy to the fans who lost their lives while coming to Asaba for super six and those who are still in the hospital for medical treatment.
“What a good way to end the league by winning a trophy for our fans and good people of Bayelsa. Despite our various challenges we encountered from the beginning of the season. I am happy for the victory against our rivals, Rivers Angels.
“At this moment i am still mourning our fans who are no more and i want to use this medium to dedicate this victory to the deceased families wherever they are in Bayelsa and outside the state.
“I also dedicate the victory to the fans who are still recovering in the hospital. I won’t forget to commend the entire staff and management as well as coaching crew of the team for the job well done throughout the last season,” he said.
The NFF CAF instructor however thanked the government of Bayelsa State for their financial support given the club to achieve its target boasting that the Federation Cup champions are ready to defend the title in the next season.
Commenting on the victory against Rivers Angels at the just concluded Federation Cup, Busari said they won the game because the players played to coach instructions and also noted that the players were more determined to win the Federation Cup after losing the super six to Delta Queens.
