Portuguese giants FC Porto have on Wednesday updated fans of Super Eagles left back Zaidu Sanusi on the injury he sustained in their UEFA Champions League game against Spanish side Athletico Madrid.
The energetic defender left the field in pain in the 53rd minute after picking up an injury and the 25-year-old was replaced by a Brazilian defender, Wendell.
In a statement released by the club on their website reads ” Zaidu, who left the field of play supported by his teammates against Athletico has had a muscle complaint in the left adductor and will be evaluated by the clinical department”
Following the statement, its clear that the Nigerian will not be on parade against Pacos De Ferreira in the coming weekend league game. Sanusi is as well doubtful for Nigeria’s friendly game against Christiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in Lisbon come November 17.
Zaidu Sanusi was on the starting lineup as he inspired his side to a win on Tuesday. Mehdi Taremi and Stephen Eustaquio’s first-half goals were enough to win the game for Porto and Marcano’s own goal was inconsequential to make any impact for the visitors.
FC Porto finished the group-stage campaign as group leaders with Club Brugge coming second to make up the two group qualifiers for the knockout stages.
