FC Nilayo on Wednesday paid a condolence visit to Remo Stars Football Club over the death of their assistant captain Kazeem Tiamiyu.
Tiamiyu died on Saturday after he was arrested by a police officer from the Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS and eventually pushed out of a moving vehicle into another speeding vehicle that knocked him down according to an eye witness account.
The Ogun State Police command has however confirmed that the police officer identified as OYATO was on an illegal duty on the said day.
FC Nilayo team led by General Manager Lekan Kelani after visiting the club’s camp handed a condolence letter to the proprietor, Remo Stars Football Club Honourable Kunle Soname at his residence.
In his speech, The Chief Operating Officer of the team Mr Ebidowei Oweifie said “A old Mexican quote says “A Man dies when he is forgotten”, we believe that Kazeem will not be forgotten even though he’s no more, on behalf of the President Mr Bukola, Olopade, management, technical crew and players, please accept our condolence, this is not the time for a long speech, so we pray that God will be with the family of the deceased as well as the club in this trying period”
In his speech, Proprietor of Remo Stars Football Club, Honourable Kunle Soname appreciated FC Nilayo for the visit and prayed that such will cease to occur in the football fraternity across Nigeria.
He added that “All we can do is just to pray that God grant us the fortitude to bear this great loss in our team and the entire RemoLand”
“The gentle man who passed on was not just a player in our team, He was our Assistant Captain, the young man just joined us this season and he was made the assistant captain, that is to show the leadership qualities inherent in the deceased, as well as how huge the loss is”.
He appreciated FC Nilayo for the gesture and charged them to keep the Football flag flying and not to be deterred with the demise of Kazeem Tiamiyu.
