Chairman of Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) club FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Prince Chukwuma Ubah has said that the management of the Anambra Warriors are working assiduously in ensuring that the stadium will be ready to host matchday one programme of the incoming new 2020/21 season against Lobi Stars and subsequent home games.
This revelation was made by the Chairman of the club and a Director of the League Management Company (LMC), Prince Chukwuma Ubah during a media parley with sportswriters in Nnewi on Wednesday.
Ubah stated that the management of the team commenced retooling of areas that required necessary changes in the facility owing to the memo from the LMC that the stadium will not host league matches if specific changes are not made in some areas of the stadium. Ubah posited that in a bid to get the stadium ready for league actions, a new electronic scoreboard was on Tuesday installed at the stadium while the existing one has been worked on by the stadium engineers to recommence its usual operation.
The football administrator stated that other aspects of the stadium undergoing refacing and rehabilitation are the team’s dressing rooms, playing surface, spectator’s stand, press gallery, and general facelifting of the entire stadia, he reemphasized the fact that they have hosted a continental game in Nnewi and meeting the required standards won’t be a problem at all. Ubah also said the club is working on designing a better sitting arrangement for the fans in line with COVID-19 guidelines of the NCDC as well as ensuring that playing personnel and team officials observe all protocols associated with disease prevention and safety.
He reassured the fans and supporters of the team that they will continue to put in their best in ensuring that they are entertained while stating that the ambition of the club is to remain solid and finish in a vintage position come to the end of the season.
