Nigeria’s representatives at the just concluded All Africa University Games,FASU Games 2022, Lagos State University and Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka ranked up a total of 11 medals between them.
This edition of the All Africa University Games also called FASU Games 2022 is the 10th edition of the Games.
LASU were the first to win Nigeria a medal in table tennis and they ended the games with a total of 10 medals that includes a gold medal, 4 silver medals, 5 bronze medals was the highest for the Nigerians.
This medals saw LASU finish up in the top 20 universities as they finished in 17th position out of 30 universities present.
Nnamdi Azikiwe University could only claim one bronze medal at the event and finished bottom of the medals table.
Nigeria was ranked 8th position on medals by country table out of 12 countries that participated in the games. Fellow West Africans, Ghana finished 3rd with 49 total medals while Egypt were the winners with 87 total medals and Uganda, second with 75 total medals.
The All-Africa University Games is a continental multi-sport event representing Africa bi-annually organized for university athletes by the Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU).
The 11th edition of the games will be hosted in Cote D’Ivoire come 2024.
