Falcons Don’t Have Any Cause For Alarm – Lawal

Former Super Eagles winger, Garba ‘Chindo’ Lawal has declared that the female national team, Super Falcons do not have any cause for alarm, in spite of their 4-1 loss to Austria at the Cyprus International Cup.

Rather than raise anxiety over the result, in which the Falcons failed to hold out till the final whistle, after their goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi, was sent off in the fifth minute of play, Lawal said the squad will revive.

Lawal went on to sue for optimism among Nigerian soccer fans, stating during a radio sports programme monitored in Lagos by sports247.ng that the players and coaches never wanted to lose the match.

The member of the technical committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) went on to point out that the competition in Cyprus is only part of the Falcons’ preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and reckons that they will learn useful lessons ahead of their outing at France 2019.

Lawal affirmed: “Any team will always want to win all their matches, and the same I know applies to the Super Falcons.

“They lost this match, but they did not want to, but I am sure they have learnt something they can use at the World Cup.
“This is still part of their preparations for the World Cup, and I know they will be ready for the competition in France. There is no cause for alarm.”
