Coach of the Falconets, Christopher Danjuma has charged his girls to learn from the numerous mistakes of the Super Falcons that cost them a place in the final of the Women African Cup of Nations WAFCON in Morocco.
Nigeria’s U-20 female national team will be flying the green and white colors of Nigeria in next month’s U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica as all stages will be set for the 10th edition. With the shaky nature of the senior female team, the U-20 team has a lot to do to put smiles back on the faces of Nigerian fans again.
The tactician is of the opinion that there was nothing political in the officiating, stating that all that led to the ouster of the Super Falcons were avoidable. It could be recollected that two careless tackles led to the sending off of two key players in the game. Therefore, Danjuma has sent a warning signal to his girls ahead of the U-20 Women’s World Cup. “A lot of things we are seeing are eye-openers.
“Everybody watched the match and we began to give warnings that don’t tackle this, you raise your boots, VAR comes, it’s a straight red card and it will affect the team. It’s not political. We need to raise our psyche and intelligence and that of our players. When you go to a major competition like that, everything is in the eyes of the world unlike before you can do something and go away with them. The slightest thing you do now will make your team depleted.
Danjuma further commended the Super Falcons for a good fight as it’s not an easy task to go down by one man in modern-day football, let alone two men. “I will commend the Super Falcons because modern-day football is not even easy to play 10 against 11 not to talk of 9 and hold to the end. But it could be avoided now that we are seeing it and we are warning our players”. He concluded. Hostilities will begin June 10th and the Falconets will face heavyweights like France and Canada in the group stage.
